Higgs particle is a bog Standard Model boson, say scientists

New

LHC data indicate the Higgs boson is unlikely to pave the way for new insights into the nature

scientists working on the Large Hadron Collider have found no evidence that the new particle discovered earlier this year is anything but simple - and most annoying -. Higgs Variety

staff at CERN, the particle physics laboratory near Geneva, which was held in July, after discovering what appeared to be elusive Higgs boson in the rubble of dozens of collisions at high energy in the big machine.

At this time, preliminary results from two main experiments, ATLAS and CMS, suggested that the particle could be more exciting than the singular beast originally described in the equations of nearly 50 years. A more exotic Higgs could pave the way to a new understanding of the profound nature.

But new data released by both teams during a conference in Kyoto Today program, which - at least so far - there is nothing strange in the behavior of the particle. The results are not completely exclude more exotic Higgs, however. Some versions are so similar to the Higgs boson of the standard model that could take years to identify.

"The particle is always there and is definitely remain consistent with the standard model," said Joe Incandela, CMS team leader detector.

The Higgs particle was first postulated in 1964 as a single entity, whose existence reveals an invisible field that propagates through space and gives mass to fundamental particles, including the building blocks of the base material.

different types of Higgs particles is generally expected from different signatures on the LHC detectors giants, although in some cases, these companies differ only subtly.

One of the reasons for the Higgs boson has taken over two decades to find out who is unstable is spectacular. Once the Higgs boson is established, decays more familiar particles such as quarks, electrons and photons. Scientists have sought an excess of these particles, implying that the Higgs boson has been created.

Mitt Romney renews promise to label China a currency manipulator

United States

lose the trade war with China in silence, said Republican candidate for the discussion of television as experts warn against retaliation

Mitt Romney has renewed its commitment to label China a currency manipulator "from day one" in the last presidential debate, arguing that the United States lost a trade war in silence with the second economy largest in the world.

Experts have warned that such a move could backfire by provoking retaliation.

Overall, the Republican candidate has taken a softer stance in Beijing, saying Tuesdaynight viewers: "We can be a partner with China, it does not take an opponent in any manner whatsoever . "

But when asked if he was formally accused China of manipulating the yuan and triggered a trade war, replied: "There is going on right now, we do not know c is silence .. And winning. "

"We must say to our friend in China ... you can continue to maintain the value of its currency, the theft of our intellectual property, counterfeit products are sold worldwide, including the United States States. "

United States

not qualified to China a currency manipulator since 1994, although successive administrations have considered doing. Some observers doubt that Romney is moving forward.

Zhiwu Chen

, professor of finance at the Yale School of Management, said in his widely followed Sina Weibo account: "Romney can not say anything before he became president, but you can tell."

Drugs in cycling: it's not only Lance Armstrong who has questions to answer | Observer editorial

For years, the Tour de France was taking medication. He forced the others to be complicit in the fraud. And yet, your sponsor is next

Lance Armstrong was a magnificent performance. To orchestrate across your subterfuge and falsehood always such a level of excellence for more than a decade - lives in press conferences, on television, in books, even in court - was a performance worthy of a champ. A liar champion.

But lying is a part of the artillery Armstrong made to keep up the deception and denying he used performance-enhancing drugs when he went trick seven wins in the Tour de France.

Deception describes in meticulous detail and shocking hundreds of pages (USADA) Report of the United States Anti-Doping Agency last week. Based on dozens of interviews, including with former teammates, the report accuses Armstrong and his managers to be "involved in a massive drug use in the long term, to cover their tracks, intimidate witnesses, tarnish reputations, lying hearing and the press and do whatever was necessary to hide the truth. "

Armstrong not only medication: the killer was mafia in professional cycling small displacement relentlessly against anyone who threatens to expose him and his staff. There intimidated and threatened teammates, journalists and other cyclists and officials.

Ask Emma O'Reilly, a masseuse in the U.S. team Armstrong Postal Service as a leader. I had a ringside seat and looked and the race team. She used makeup to cover the bruises syringes Armstrong. She helped carry the packets of drugs and delivered in person to Armstrong. At one point, he turned to her and said. "Now, Emma, ??you know enough to take down"

few years later, O'Reilly has contributed to a book in which he describes what he saw. Armstrong's legal team racing. She was taken to court. Armstrong has publicly called "an alcoholic and a prostitute." He shut up. As she says: "Lance tried to make my life hell was bullying, harassment and stress.".

The most striking aspect of the report can be used not what he speaks of "doping-free sport program most sophisticated ever seen," but he speaks of revenge, untruthful, vicious at the heart of this fraud. Armstrong not only attack with vigor mountains, attacked someone who threatened to reveal the truth of his doping. seems to be less a cyclist, more like a psychopath.

And this can not be the end of the story of Armstrong. The U.S. Attorney's Office - Which dropped an investigation into his alleged doping earlier this year - is very likely to be interested in the report of the USADA, especially when it is alleged that Mr. Armstrong perjury during seven jurors to make a statement before a court in Dallas in 2005.

In 2005, when the
Team

Journal

fled retail 1999 Armstrong positive test, the UCI has conducted an "investigation" in which Armstrong was acquitted. Dick Pound, chairman of the World Anti-Doping Agency, said that the report of the UCI was "so lacking in professionalism and objectivity that it borders on the ridiculous."
Why ICU was so useless? As one journalist noted cycling governing body last week "continuously, either through naivety, incompetence or complicity, cache the worst excesses of the decade of doping." What was - naivety, incompetence or complicity? This is the same organization that has accepted Armstrong $ 125,000 to help fund UCI anti-doping research. As he had laughed. You could not make peace. Only Armstrong did - and bought more intensive care

Obama campaign: Romney to the right of George Bush on foreign policy

presidential advisers claim Romney has not withstood the test of commander and did not provide details on major issues

Campaign

team Barack Obama has accused Mitt Romney of wanting to follow the same foreign policy of George Bush led the United States wars.

Campaign

president said Republican presidential candidate is positioned to the right of Bush foreign policy speech by Romney to do today.

Excerpts

Romney's speech were released on Sunday and explained his position mainly in the Middle East, prompting allegations that have been repeatedly changing his line in Libya, Syria, the Palestinian territories and Iran.

In Syria, Romney and his team have offered opposing views on how much or how little the United States must be involved. Unlike the Obama administration, which has so far resisted allowing rebels receive weapons capable of fighting against aircraft, helicopters and tanks, Romney proposes that U.S. allies in the Middle East abolish these restrictions and begin supplying weapons to the rebels who were requested.

Campaign

Obama released an ad saying Romney had failed the test of commander in chief, citing his accident-prone visiting Britain, Israel and Poland in the summer and several comments from . The announcement said: "If this is the way it manages the world now, imagine what you could do as President Romney."

Team

Obama issued a "memo" - actually a press release - from two of his foreign policy advisors, Michele Flournoy and Colin Kahl, saying Romney speech is an attempt to boost his foreign policy, but that "does not change the fact that he has repeatedly taken positions outside the mainstream and often up to George Bush." ??

The couple added: "This is not surprising given that Romney is advised by the same people who were responsible for some of the worst foreign policy failures in American history, including war in Iraq and now he wants. us back to the same thing with us-or-against-us approach that got us into wars without us out. "

On CNN Monday morning news anchor Soledad O'Brien engaged in a series of exchanges with the media irritable Romney spokeswoman, Tara Wall, above its position in the territories Palestinians. The secret video released last month by a private speech in Florida, Romney was dismissive of the possibility of resolving the Israeli-Palestinian issue, but excerpts from the speech he will deliver later in Virginia, spoke of the need of an independent Palestinian state. In the covert video, Romney said that Palestinians were not interested in the search for peace and an independent Palestine could be used by Iran as a launching pad for attacks against Israel.

wall O'Brien asked which of the two positions defended Romney, the establishment of a Palestinian state or skepticism about the prospect.

Wall replied that Mr. Obama had appeared on an entertainment program rather than comply with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in New York last month.

US job market recovery stalled in March, halting streak of major gains

Employers added only 120,000

jobs last month, well below estimates, the unemployment rate back to 8.2%

Recovering U.S. job market stagnated in March, adding only 120,000 jobs, according to the Labor Department, well below the figures for most economists predict summer.

United States

227,000 jobs added in February, and economists expect that this would be the fourth consecutive month that the economy has created over 200,000 jobs. Before the release of economists in a Bloomberg News payroll survey forecast to increase by 205,000 in March.

fall will be disappointing for President Barack Obama, who has put the economic recovery at the heart of his reelection campaign.

The unemployment rate, which is obtained by a separate survey of U.S. households, marked by a tenth of a percentage point to 8.2%, but the decline is partly due to the less Americans search of work.

The figures come as a surprise after yesterday's news that the number of Americans applying for unemployment benefits fell last week to a minimum of four years.

Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential candidate is expected this week accused President damage the U.S. economy to hide their true intentions of voters. "With all the challenges facing the country, this is not the time for hiding and hunting campaign of President Obama," he said.

The unemployment rate fell again, but still a problem for Obama. It was 7.8% when he took office in January 2009 and reached 10% after nine months. It has now fallen to 8.3%, its lowest level in three years, but no president since Franklin Delano Roosevelt was re-elected with unemployment over 7.2%.
